How to Build a Watchlist of Your Investments in TradingView

Updated 2026-09-11 · UK · ~5 min read

One calm screen with everything you own on it. No logins to five apps, no mental maths — just a glance, when you choose to look.

A watchlist is simply a saved list of the funds, ETFs or shares you care about. It is the most useful thing a long-term investor can set up on TradingView, and it takes about five minutes.

Step by step

  1. Open a free account and go to the main chart.
  2. Find the Watchlist panel on the right. Click the + to add a symbol.
  3. Search for each thing you own. For a global tracker, search the ticker your broker shows (for example a FTSE All-World ETF). For a UK-listed fund, add .L for the London listing.
  4. Add each holding. You will see them all together with today's move and a mini chart.
  5. Rename the list something like “My Portfolio” so it is the first thing you see.

How a long-term investor should read it

Not daily. The value of the watchlist is not constant monitoring — it is that when you do look, perhaps once a month, everything is in one place and takes thirty seconds. Red days are not a problem to solve; they are the price of the long-term return. A watchlist you glance at monthly beats five broker apps you refresh in a panic.

Next, do the one thing that lets you stop looking altogether: set a price alert.
